Oglarska domačija Brinovec

At the Brinovčevs, the tradition of coal mining has been passed down from generation to generation for more than 100 years. Since 2012, they have been registered in the Register of Living Cultural Heritage as transmitters of knowledge, and since 2024, Mirko Brinovec has been the recipient of the title “Recognized craftsman”, awarded by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia in accordance with the Conservation Act and the development of handicrafts.

In addition to charcoal making, the farm, which also covers 42 hectares of forest, is also engaged in carpentry and tourism.
Na domačiji ponujajo različne turistične programe in možnost nakupa oglja za žar, oglja za vrtnarjenje, oglja za risanje v obliki palčke ter oglarski kruh. Mogoče je najeti tudi prostor za piknike s kapaciteto do 70 oseb in možnostjo prenočitve za 2 osebi.

Bears preserve the tradition of cooking natural charcoal and are its largest producer in Slovenia. The owner of the homestead is the recipient of the title “recognized craftsman”, which is awarded by the Chamber of Crafts and Enterprises of Slovenia in accordance with the Act on the Preservation and Development of Handicrafts.

They serve you sweet and savory homemade delicacies of your own making, which you can also buy from them in advance.
Na oglarski domačiji Medved vsako leto postavijo tudi kopo velikanko, ki bi jo bilo mogoče vpisati v Guinnessovo knjigo rekordov, v kateri je zloženih skoraj 300 metrov oz. 200 kubičnih metrov drv.

At the Lavrič Charcoal Homestead, they preserve the tradition and heritage of past generations through charcoal burning. Anton Lavrič’s main activity is road transport, sawmilling, and wood processing. They manufacture and supply wood chips. They also produce logs, paneling, and pallets. As part of their registered activity, they are also involved in selling charcoal.

They set up the charcoal pile (kopa) once a year, primarily for the purpose of clearing the forest and preserving cultural heritage. Their charcoal pit (kopišče) is a popular venue for various cultural and social events, including an annual open-air theatre. Next to the charcoal pit, there is also a prototype of a typical charcoal burner’s hut, which represents an important part of the development of the Charcoal Land (Oglarska dežela).

At the Odlazek charcoal homestead, the family has been preserving the old tradition of charcoal burning for several generations. They gladly present the setting up and firing of the charcoal pile (kopa) and the life of charcoal burners then and now to visitors. The homestead offers an authentic heritage experience, where hard work and respect for nature intertwine. During a visit, you can feel the spirit of the past and see a piece of the rich Slovenian charcoal burning history. You are invited to experience an authentic tradition along the Charcoal Trail (Oglarska pot).

The Ajdišek family has been involved in charcoal burning for about 30 years. The farm is located in the idyllic village of Selce, where only four houses are inhabited today, which gives it a special peace and authentic rural atmosphere. Their charcoal burning site (kopišče) is located in a prominent spot right next to the forest, just a ten-minute walk from the thematic charcoal trail. Charcoal can be purchased directly at the farm; they also deliver it to customers throughout most of Slovenia. In addition to charcoal burning, the farm is also engaged in forestry, livestock farming, and the cultivation of vegetables and wheat, which gives the homestead a diverse and vibrant pulse.
